EMCC 2020 is happening next March!

Relationships in a world of conflict

Loving God, your neighbour, yourself, your enemy

The world seems to be increasingly polarised, with relationships characterised by animosity and divisiveness even in the church and mission.

How do we embrace and foster authentically loving and sacrificial relationships in our teams and communities?

Our Bible studies in Romans 12 will inform our thinking on crucial relationships such as team, church, family, agency, spouse, nationals, persecutors, leaders and God as we see to share the gospel with others not only in what we do and say, but in who we are and how we live.

Mission workers are no strangers to change, stress and trauma – and Treasure in Jars of Clay – building resilience in the midst of turmoil seeks to answer the questions:

i) how do we prepare mission workers to be resilient in the midst of turmoil?

ii) how do we help wounded mission workers bounce back effectively?

Our plenary speakers will be Frauke Schaefer (co-editor of Trauma & Resilience – Effectively Supporting Those, Who Serve God), Annemie Grosshauser and Scott Shaum, and our devotions will once again be led by popular Christian speaker and prolific author Tony Horsfall.

In addition to the 3-night consultation, there will be a package of other associated events including:

  • a three day security training workshop with experienced security adviser Phil Harper
  • a special pre-conference for people new to member care

EMCC 2018 will take place 12-15 March 2018 in Málaga, Spain at the Casa Diocesana (the Roman Catholic diocesan retreat centre).

We regret that bookings are now closed.  We are sorry that you will not be able to join us this time and hope you will book for EMCC in 2020.

Advanced Counselling Training Series – CH/US/UK

The tools we use in our work or ministry are only as effective as our level of understanding and skill, and this seminar series offers you the opportunity to enhance your level of understanding and skill proficiency, and become truly effective instrument in the Master’s hands.

If you have the calling and passion to help others heal, grow, and experience spiritual freedom, and you want to be equipped with the tools, skills and understanding you will need to bring each person to the healing and freedom found only in Christ, then consider this two-week intensive—designed to increase your spiritual resilience, to equip you to be much more effective in your work with others, and to keep you from falling into the pitfalls and dead ends in which too many in the counseling and member care fields often finds themselves.

Module 1 Focus: This training series is intended primarily for those involved—or those who have the passion and calling to be involved—in counseling or member care work in the mission or ministry context (debriefing, crisis, trauma, transitional stress, grief work, sex-traffic and prostitution victims, prison inmates, addictions, and other counseling situations)—as well as for those in the leadership, discipleship, mentoring, community development and reconciliation work, who want to be equipped to make a real difference in the life of others.

MA in Member Care – UK

Taught by experts in the field, Redcliffe College’s new MA in Member Care recognises the need to have a Biblical basis underpinning practice, as well as understanding cross-cultural perspectives and their effect on individuals and groups. Challenges such as crisis response and trauma debriefing will be addressed, and there is the opportunity to focus on a specific context or Member Care issue through an optional module.

This MA is available in flexible learning mode. Students complete the MA over 3-4 years, studying in a combination of three-week summer school residential intensives, and self-study with email support (on average 10-15 hours a week).
